blooming glen crop share report: 2008 07/01 week six

(Click photo to read notes at flick’r regarding names/quantities of share.)

This week’s share is definitely the most colorful so far this season, with yellow and orange edible marigolds, pink and green Swiss chard, a rainbow of colors in the pick-your-own wildflower bouquet, green herbs and scapes, and tri-color tomatoes. Yes, tomatoes — I could hardly believe it! It seems early, but looking at last year’s shares, I see that it was almost this exact date last year and in 2006 when we received our first batches of tomatoes. Hm… it’s as if our farmers KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING ;)

Thanks for stopping by. I responded to your comment on my blog, but wanted to make sure you got my answer, so I thought I’d come by and say hello here, too. Those roasted veggies were done in the oven on a foil-lined cookie sheet. (I don’t have a grill or I would have roasted them in a foil packet, outside the house where it got very hot for a couple of hours.)

I’m so jealous of your CSA share. It’s much more colorful than mine have been so far. I’m sure my day is coming, but one can only eat so much lettuce and kale before she starts to go a little crazy. Thankfully the farmer’s market is filling in the gaps.
