Reaching and basking

hanging basket

I have no idea what species of flower this is. It’s part of the “reacher” crowd in a hanging basket that I recently picked up at the market. (May 31, set here.)

Farmin’

P5301684

The veggies are all tucked in. It’s a simple garden, party due to it’s small size, and partly due to the fact that we receive massive amounts of fancy produce from our CSA. The main objective is to have lots of tomatoes for jarring and lots of hot peppers to make hot sauce. We planted two types of tomatoes, broccoli, a bell pepper mix, a hot pepper mix, cucumbers and sugar snap peas. Jase started the peppers and tomatoes from seeds a couple months age. (May 30, set here.)

AC LAX

last practice

With his last game on Saturday and the tournament next week, AC’s first lacrosse season is almost over. The weather was just about perfect for tonight’s practice and scrimmage. (May 29, set here.)

Bluex toes

My kitty Bluex; she’s French and fancy. She’s the kitten’s kitten; purrfect at being a cat. (May 28, set here.)

2008 05/27 crop share report
(Click photo to read notes at flick’r regarding names/quantities of share.)

Hooray for the first share of the season! Our kitchen seemed happier to have the Blooming Glen Farm smell of fresh greens and spring onions tonight. I’ve already packed salads for work lunches tomorrow and the strawberries are just about gone. Though I have nothing special planned for the remaining loot, I’m sure one or two items will show up in our One Local Summer meal this week. Happy farm season, everyone!

Skate or die

P5261591

Over the three-day weekend, there was a lot of skateboarding. Of which I took a lot of crappy pictures. One of these days, I will master an action shot. (May 27, set here.)

We looked you up on the Wookieepedia

art museum

While waiting for the trolley at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to take us to the Perelman Building to see the Ansel Adams exhibit, this lady walked by — just like this — carrying what is very clearly an Ewok. She tried to tell us that he (Mozart is his name) is a Pomeranian, and we were all, “Whatever, lady… NICE TRY.” (May 26, set here.)

Old antennae head

Rodney named him. Isn’t he cute? (May 25, set here.)

Eight cylinders and blue skies

P5231480

Several neighborhoods had yard sales today, including ours. We partook in the festivities, and although AC was the only one who made any cash (Jase and I actually lost money…?), it was totally worth it because we got to spend the entire morning outside, where it WASN’T RAINING. We caught up with some of our favorite people from the ‘hood, including Mike the mechanic and two of his boys, who were on their way to drop off this motor and then go for a bike ride. I love the way the wires get lost in the clouds in this pic :) (May 24, set here.)

Sunny Cinder

sunny cinder

The sun was out today for like, more than three minutes straight. Ms. Cinder bear just couldn’t get enough it and parked her fuzzy little bum on the back porch for most of the day. She’s a smart poocher.  (May 23, here.)
